Are you a web developer looking to collaborate and connect with other women in the field? If so, you’re in luck. One of Ackmann & Dickenson’s talented developers made it her goal to continue fostering a community for female developers in the Twin Cities.
Allyson Wehrs will host monthly women in tech meetups across Minneapolis and St. Paul to give women interested in coding and development a comfortable environment in which to learn more and network.
“I think women in tech meetups are really helpful,” said Allyson Wehrs, a web developer who joined A&D earlier this year. “When I first moved here two years ago, I joined Girl Develop It — it was amazing, and I found some great mentors.”
Allyson hosted the first WordPress-based meetup in mid-July to brainstorm topics of interest, guest speakers and future formats and locations.
“I want to keep hosting the women in tech meetups because they’re a welcoming place to come and share experiences and tips with talented women in the field,” she said. “It’s a very comfortable environment, and all are welcome.”
Allyson said she wants to keep the meetups collaborative and beginner-based, ensuring they’re accessible for new developers. “People have found these meetups really useful, and we’ve already got another scheduled for next month,” she said.
