Ackmann & Dickenson Inc. (A&D) was one of two web firms selected by HealthNewsReview and their governing board to re-architect, re-configure and redesign the web property www.healthnewsreview.org. Ultimately A&D was awarded the project.
A&D’s Team of Software Engineers began by reconfiguring the existing database schema and migrating all relevant historical data. A custom plug-in and custom script was developed to resolve data mining and data migration issues. WordPress was the open-source Content Management System platform implemented to enable HealthNewsReview to be self-sufficient and to post content quickly. Google docs are also being utilized to streamline the workflow for the dozens of Doctors, Scientists and Journalists nationwide that serve as active reviewers on the site. Progressive Disclosure methodologies were utilized in the information architecture and design to enhance both the user-interface and user-experience.
