National Indian Gaming Association

Challenge:

In March of 2011 Red Circle Digital approached Ackmann & Dickenson, Inc. to develop a non-native custom mobile application for the 2011 National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) Tradeshow in Phoenix, Arizona.  In less than one month, the team at A&D were tasked to create an app that tradeshow attendees could use to navigate the convention and its offerings without needing to drag around a map, schedule, information booklet, etc.

Approach:

We used universal web technologies to mimic the native app experience without constraining it to one mobile operating system. This allowed any convention-goer to use the app regardless of the type of phone he or she carried.

The Mobile Application features an interactive floor plan allowing users to navigate through the convention while engaging with selected vendors. Some additional features include a complete conference schedule, a complete list of sponsors, mobile ads sponsored by local Phoenix Food and Entertainment establishments and a customized attendee experience survey.

Outcome:

The launch of the NIGA Mobile app exceeded all expected features and functionality.  Opt-in loyalty reward programs were offered enabling users to receive various mobile coupons and rewards and the entire application was tracked with analytics to help NIGA understand how participating users leveraged the application.  In approximately 2.5 days the application was downloaded by over 1200 unique users and used nearly 50,000 times by Blackberry, Android, and iPhone mobile devices.
